Living Liebreichs

The eventful history of the Liebreich name has left the world with a colourful band of Liebreichs scattered around the world, from Oregon to Japan.

There is everything from Liebreich the classical conductor to Liebreich the cafe-owner and Liebreich the luggage-shop owner. You get the feeling that if you marooned all Liebreichs on a desert island they would develop a pretty vibrant society. Hey, that's not a bad idea...

Alexander Liebreich

Most famous living Liebreich. Young German conductor Alexander Liebreich is noted for his "sheer musicality and progressive ideas". Based in Regensburg, he recently stepped in at short notice for Mariss Jansons and conducted three concerts with Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra which were greeted with critical acclaim. Alexander, you raise our tone - I salute you!

Amelia Liebreich

Once fêted on these pages as "teen poet, chronicler of angst", she is now a 20 something graduate student pursuing a Master's degree in psychology. It must irritate her that the top link, when you search for Amelia Liebreich on Google, is a poem she wrote aged 15, and the second one is this page. But such is life. Probably the most fun Liebreich to end up next to on a long flight.

Dave Liebreich

Software Testing Architect, Coach, Consultant, Manager. Living in Colorado, but promises he's moving to California soon. Son of Edward, sister of Karen, nephew of Michael (not me). And a blogger too! I've never met Dave, but I would like to. Dave, if you ever get to London, I'll buy you a beer.

David A. Liebreich

Chief Executive Officer of iMobile Inc. Former Brand Manager for Procter & Gamble Far East, David developed and launched new products and built brand equity in Japan. After P&G, David was manager at management consultancy Booz Allen & Hamilton in Tokyo and San Francisco. He earned his MBA at Georgetown University, and was an exchange student at Waseda Business School. David was born in Oregon, US.

Dell Liebreich

Hospice worker and notary public Yantis, Texas, who since 1997 has been leading a bruising battle against the Church of Scientology. Her niece, Lisa McPherson, died in 1995 at the age of 36 at Scientology's Fort Harrison Hotel in Florida. She had been held under guard for 17 days after displaying strange behaviour, was refused medical aid, held down and forced to swallow food and medicine, despite visibly failing mental and physical health.

Donald Liebreich

In 1964, Donald was living in Waterbury, Connecticut, and racing of a fine Porsche Speedster in the SCCA Regional Races at the Virginia International Raceway. He came second and third in his two races. Father of Jason "Strongtie" Liebreich. Is he also Don Liebreich of University City?

Freddy Liebreich

My father. Avid historian and expert on the British navy's attempts to stop illegal jewish immigrants from reaching Palestine up to 1948. Left school at 14 to become a mechanic, and engineer. Started his undergraduate degree in history and economics on retirement at 62. Now proud holder of a Masters from Kings College London, has completed his PhD thesis, which is about to be published as a book. Also known, confusingly, as Fritz and Moshe.

Jason Liebreich

Editor of Anchor Update, the newsletter of Simpson Strong Tie Anchor Systems, for all the latest in the world of epoxy tie adhesives for use in seismic retrofits. Son of Donald "Speedster" Liebreich

Jens Liebreich

Originally from Köln, Jens once studied at the University of Newcastle. Now apparently a teacher in the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Gymnasium in Bonn.

Joan Liebreich

One of the Portland, Oregon, Liebreichs. Runs the Havurah Shalom, which is listed as a gay- and lesbian-friendly congregation. I think she's the mother of Greg Liebreich (married to Meg), which would make her the grandmother of Mike Liebreich.

Born in Shelby County, Texas, on 31 October 1954.

Karen Liebreich

Karen is my sister. She is a writer, entrepreneur, gardener and mother, and lives in West London. We wrote a book on skiing together, it nearly killed us.

My mum. Still running her antique prints and maps business, now fully online, she'll never retire. Learned HTML last year. Don't mess with her!

M. Liebreich (not me!)

Animal behaviourist, specialising in bird alarm calls. Co-author of groundbreaking "Adult chicken alarm calls enhance tonic immobility in chicks", Behavioural Processes 14, 49-61, 1987.

Martin Liebreich

Born 1975, Kloten, Switzerland. Completed 71km Züri Metzgete bicycle race in August 2003 in 2hrs 13mins. Seems very fast to me!

Renate Liebreich

Curator of the Bavarian State Paleontology and Geology Collection. Worked on an exhibition on "Living Fossils" at the University of Munich Paleontology Museum. Coauthor of "Hasenhirsch und Hundebär" ("Haredeer and dogbear"), Pfeil 1996, ISBN 3-931516-07-5. Hey, Renate, I feel your pain. Sometimes I feel like a dogbear too.

Tanis Liebreich

Community Education Coordinator, Canadian Diabetes Association, living in Edmonton, Alberta. Seventh Day Adventist and 2hrs 11 minutes half-marathon runner.

Tim Liebreich (Cafe Liebreich)

If ever find yourself near Kreuzau/Obermaubach, make sure you pop in to Liebreich Café Restaurant. Chef and owner Tim Liebreich presents a full bistro-style menu from coffee and cake through to lamb, pork and fish dishes, all in a "classic modern" ambiance, whatever that is. Early in 2004 Cafe Liebreich's website went off the air, I hope it's only temporary.

Wendy Liebreich

Co-owner of Portland Luggage, member of the American Luggage Dealers Association. Wendy, if I ever find myself in Portland, and the wheels come off my drag-bag, I know where I'm headed. Keep up the good work on OJCF.

Yumiko Liebreich

Presumably married to David A. Liebreich, as she's codirector of iMobile Inc of Japan. Yumiko is definitely not a traditional Liebreich name, but hey, welcome to the club!
