Once in Pontresina, it's useful to have one car for every 3-4 people, because there's plenty to do in the Engadin valley in the days leading up to the race. On race day, you'll use the train / bus. By train. If you take the train you will have to change twice, once in Chur and once in Samedan. It being Switzerland, the connections will go like clockwork. When you come out of the station in Pontresina, you will have to walk 300 yards up the hill to the main street and the hotels. By car. There's motorway all the way to Thusis, then it's awinding Roman road over the Julier Pass to Silvaplana (near the start of the race). Turn left into St Moritz. A couple of miles after St Moritz you turn right towards the Bernina Pass, signposted Pontresina. Leave the main road at the Pontresina exit. Follow the road left, up the hill into the village, and join the one-way high street. The Sport and the Rosatch are on the left, each with its own parking (the Sport has extra spaces behind the hotel). The Collina is a few hundred yards further, perched on a hill and set back on the left of the hight street with magnificent views. By minibus. There was some talk last year about hiring one or more minibuses for the group. You can leave renting a car or buying train tickets until Feb or March, by then we'll have decided if we are renting one or more minibus, if not you can get together to rent cars or hitch lifts with each other.
