Racers crossing the lake. You can't imagine how gruelling this is, and yet somehow, how much fun...
You don't have to race for charity, it's entirely up to you.

However, Since 2001, the Engadin Marathonistas have raised around £65,000 for various charities, and it would be good to see that figure reach £100,000 in the next year or two.

Most of the racers have their own favourite cause which they support. We also support two "official" charities, so if you don't know whom to race for, please please choose one of these:

  • Charity #1: St Mark's Hospital Foundation

I am a trustee of St Mark's Hospital Foundation, the charitable arm of St Mark's Hospital, London. Since being founded in 1835, St Mark's has been one of the country's (and indeed Europe's) leading hospitals for colorectal disease. It has been at the forefront of innovation in the diagnosis and treatment of serious conditions, such as colon cancer, polyposis, intestinal failure and irritable bowel syndrome. St Mark's Hospital Foundation raises money to fund the hospital's leading-edge academic research and teaching programmes.

  • Charity #2: WellChild

Wellchild (formerly known as Children Nationwide) is the charity that initially got me involved in the Engadin Marathon. Since 1977, WellChild has been the UK's national charity concerned with all childhood illness including meningitis, cancer, autism, premature birth, diabetes, Down's Syndrome, liver disease, rare disorders and any that blight the lives of children. Through research and the provision of life-saving equipment, WellChild minimises the stress and trauma of treatment.

Whether you ski for one of our official charities or not is entirely up to you. If you ski for a charity of your choice, it's really easy to set up an online fundraising page, so your friends and colleagues can sponsor you online. It takes about ten minutes - and you could raise hundreds or even thousands of pounds.

Click here right now to set up your online funding page. Then all you need to do is send an email to everyone in your address book...

Doing good whilst going skiing - can't ask for better than that, can you!
