Engadin Marathonistory - 2001

The inagural trip!

  • Our group comprised of 6 adults and 2 kids;
  • We were part of a group arranged by Children Nationwide (now WellChild), with Jon Sampson as team leader;
  • Of the 5 of us who raced, 4 of us skated, one did classic technique;
  • All of us finished the course;
  • Our fastest time was 3 hrs 11 mins (the race winner did it in 1hour and 24 minutes);
  • Our slowest time was 4 hours 49 minutes; our average was 3 hours and 42 minutes;
  • We raised around £7k for Children Nationwide;
  • After the race we were witnesses to a horrible hang-glider accident.
